Congratulations! You're taking the first steps to never having to stand in line to send your items ever again!
Everyone's first time can be uncertain, but we're here to tell you what you need to know about creating your first shipment.
The rest of our Help Center has more in-depth, dedicated articles about these topics, but this will help you start.
What can you ship?
You can ship as many items as you'd like to an unlimited number of different addresses for each pickup. As a rule of thumb, if it can be lifted by a single person and can be fit onto the back seat of a standard-sized car then we can take it. Ultimately your courier will assess whether we can ship your items. You can ship most items but for things we can't, see Restricted Items for more details.
Building your shipment
To begin building your shipment, simply tap on '+ Create Shipment' at the bottom of the main screen. If you're selling an item through eBay or returning an online purchase you'll want to select one of those options. Otherwise, for everything else, select 'Standard Shipment'.
Next, take a photo of your items. Make sure all items are visible in the photo.
The next step is to select your packaging. If you're providing your own packaging there is no additional charge. Please ensure the packaging you provide will adequately protect your items. For packing tips, search 'tips' within our Help Center. If you would like us to package your items, simply select 'Yes, package my shipment'. You'll be asked about the size and fragility of your items before entering the recipient's name and address.
To add another item to your pick up, repeat this process.
Requesting a pick up
Once you have built your shipment, tap on 'Proceed to pick up' and select an available time for your courier to collect your items. In some instances you'll be able to select a pick up now. In this case, a courier will arrive in less than half an hour. You can also schedule a one-hour pick up slot up to a day in advance, if available.
What to expect when your courier arrives
Our couriers are full members of the Shyp team, and as such have been trained to give you the best customer experience. After greeting you, they'll ask for your items and place them in special Shyp bags with unique QR codes for tracking. Larger items will have their own QR codes attached. If you need to make any changes to your shipment, please let your courier know before they leave. And then, that's it! Your items will be on their way.
After your pick up
Your items will be carefully taken to our facility where they'll be processed for shipping. If you have requested packaging, one of our trained packaging experts will use professional packaging material to protect your items in transit.
We'll then compare prices across different carriers such as USPS, FedEx, and UPS to give you the lowest possible price. Once given to the carrier, you'll receive tracking information that allows you to follow your shipment's progress.
